Ben

Ben Pope is a stand-up comedian, writer and comedy performer.

Ben has taken two critically-acclaimed solo stand-up hours to the Edinburgh Fringe - Baby Sasquatch in 2018 and Dancing Bear in 2019. His YouTube special Mr Big Stuff - released in December 2022 - has been viewed 35k times and counting. In 2023 he took his new hour Holy Cow on tour around the country, including a run at London’s Soho Theatre. Not to brag, but Joe Lycett said it was ‘excellent.’

He has been doing stand-up for the best part of a decade (as an act and MC), gigging regularly across the UK and has previously worked with the award-winning NewsRevue, appeared on Comedy Central’s Achievement Unlocked, Dave’s Comedy Guide to Life and the BBC New Comedy Award on Radio 4 Extra. He runs seasonal mixed-bill nights in London with his best friend and musical comedian/weirdo Alex MacKeith.

He was also one third of the cult sketch group Princes of Main who were part of the line-up at London SketchFest in 2016, and had sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 and 2017. Their critically acclaimed show New Year’s Eve (‘the future of sketch comedy is in safe hands’ – The Telegraph) transferred to London’s Soho Theatre in early 2018.

Ben has written for the Idler and Inkling Magazines, and his newsletter Lo! can be subscribed to now - it features illustrations by Will Hughes. In his spare time (haha) he manages Review, an independent bookshop in Peckham.
